Instagram launches Reel Download Feature and Enhancements: Save and Enjoy Offline Viewing of Reels, Add Music Clips to Notes, and Engage with Creators through Broadcast Channels
Meta-owned social media platform Instagram has unveiled a new feature that allows users in the United States to download reels directly to their phone’s camera roll. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, made the announcement on his Instagram broadcast channel. While he did not mention when this feature would be available to users outside the U.S., it marks a significant update for Instagram users who enjoy saving and accessing reels offline.
To download an Instagram reel, users simply need to tap the “Share” icon on a reel they like and select the “Download” option. This will save the reel to their device, allowing for easy offline viewing. However, it’s important to note that reels shared by private accounts cannot be downloaded. Additionally, public accounts have the option to disable the download feature in their Account Settings if they prefer to restrict the ability to download their reels.
In addition to the reel download feature, Instagram has recently introduced other noteworthy updates. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that users can now add 30-second music clips to Instagram Notes. This enhancement enables users to further personalize their content by incorporating their favorite songs. Zuckerberg shared the news on his Meta Channel on Instagram, crediting his daughters for expanding his music taste.
